About

Coming from a creative background in music and drama, diving into myself to write songs and play various characters, prompted me to acquire a deep understanding of myself. Through this fascinating process, I developed a deep curiosity about the world and others, which sparked my dormant passion for psychology and understanding the ever so complex human mind and behaviour.

The journey to becoming a Psychologist, which was a long process of emotional development, prompted me to think about myself as an instrument for growth and change. My instrument (the self) needed to be in tune in order to become a vessel, using empathy and compassion to help people in South Africa with their mental health and wellbeing .

I have a firm and solid foundation in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. This lens is one I use to assist individuals to regain the parts of themselves that have been avoided (which causes pain and suffering). I am passionate in assisting individuals to piece these parts together (collaboratively) like a puzzle, to create a full picture and meaning of the whole person. Promoting insight and awareness can many times be a painful and long process in therapy, but also leads to long-term development, growth and change.

Once you know yourself, you cannot unknow it – Jon Pedrosa
